Last holiday season, site teams delivered nearly 1.6 million acts of kindness which included hours volunteered, meals delivered, and gifts donated to local charity partners.
This year, we will prioritize supporting food security in our communities as 2.3 billion people globally experience moderate or severe food insecurity— a figure that’s increased by 350 million people in the past three years. There is no single face of food insecurity, as it impacts every community around the world. Through individual acts of kindness, together, we can be a force for good this holiday season.
Beginning on Giving Tuesday, November 29, we invited our Operations employees to choose an organization they care deeply about and to help us deliver over a million acts of kindness such as packing essential items and care kits, hosting a food drive, volunteering at a local food bank, or simply donating funds through our internal Amazon Gives grants scheme.

France

We supported Fédération des Banques Alimentaires with volunteering, financial donations and transportation services, delivering over 700,000 meals across 26 communities.
Spain
Partnering with Federación Española Bancos de Alimentos and other main local foodbanks, we donated close to 100,000 meals to those in need in Spain.
Central and Eastern Europe
We partnered with the Red Cross as well as local non-profits and foodbanks to donate 43,000 winter kits, hygiene kits and over 120,000 meals to Polish and Ukrainian families in need.
Italy
We supported with over 30 local non-profit organizations with volunteering, financial and transportation donations which led to over 90,000 meals delivered to Italian families in need.
Germany, Austria and the Netherlands
In addition to our long-term partnerships with local food banks “Tafel”, we supported 30 local food banks in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands through volunteerism and financial and transportation donations impacting over 200,000 people in need. We also are partnering with Offroad Kids charity to pack and deliver thousands of much needed items to youth and young adults experiencing homelessness.
UK
We are levelling up foodbanks across the UK with a full bespoke 'chill chain' solution. This work will allow foodbanks to receive chilled and frozen food, supporting them to eliminate many of the 130 million meals that are wasted as a result of insufficient storage. Additionally, we are partnering with Social Bite and Embrace, to wrap and deliver thousands of much needed items to people experiencing homelessness and children who have been victims of crime.
