Munich, July 13th, 2019 - Amazon plans to create more than 2,800 additional permanent jobs in Germany by the end of 2019. The company will then employ well over 20,000 people nationwide. Added to this are indirect jobs: small and medium-sized companies that sell at Amazon.de have so far created more than 120,000 jobs in Germany to run their businesses at Amazon.
The company is currently looking for both young professionals and experienced specialists such as software developers, linguists, logistics experts, personnel and IT specialists. The jobs are created primarily in the Amazon Offices and the development and logistics centers - Amazon has a total of more than 35 locations in Germany.
Amazon is continuously expanding its presence in Germany, especially in existing and new logistics locations. The opening of the 13th Amazon Logistics Center in Mönchengladbach is planned for 2019, where employees will work hand in hand with state-of-the-art technology. Thanks to these investments, Amazon can continue to improve its services for customers.
"Anyone with visions should go to Amazon. Amazon is a great employer where employees can do business, experiment and learn a lot of new things. Even after more than 20 years, we see ourselves as pioneers who go different ways every day to develop the best offer for customers. We are therefore looking for people who are enthusiastic about digital innovations and want to invent something new," says Ralf Kleber, Country Manager Amazon.de and with the company for 20 years. “Excellent pay, outstanding career opportunities and attractive benefits in the market: Amazon is the employer of choice for thousands of people in Germany.”
Competitive wages right from the start
The employees in the German logistics centers start with a wage of at least 10.78 euros gross per hour. After two years, the average gross wage is almost 2,400 (2,397) euros per month, including performance-related bonuses and special payments. In addition, employees benefit from shares and other extras such as paid overtime, life and disability insurance or company pension plans. Amazon also subsidizes the canteens in the logistics centers, which offer healthy food at low prices.
In addition, the company supports employees on their individual career path with many different programs. "Career Choice", for example, promotes the vocational training of employees in the logistics and customer service centers. Amazon covers 95 percent of the costs for nationally recognized courses, up to 8,000 euros per person over a maximum of four years. In Amazon's internal diversity network Women@Amazon, employees are committed to equal opportunities and the advancement of women in the company.
Further jobs will be created at Amazon partners
In addition to the jobs at Amazon itself, partners are also creating new jobs that use the company's services. 10,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany reach their customers via Amazon. Above all, the export business is growing. Four out of five German SMEs on Amazon are already selling their products all over the world: in 2018 they exported over 2.5 billion euros, an increase of 20 percent over the previous year.
