This year, hundreds of Amazonians voted to choose their 2024 Amazon Star, between charity and sports club volunteers, voluntary firefighters, military reservists, musicians, animal welfare and environmental preservation groups, and more.
Arbabidine Mmadi, called ‘Babi’ by his loved ones and colleagues, a team leader for our delivery agency in Bouc-Bel-Air since 2018, is this year’s Amazon Star in France.
Comedian and actor Kev Adams, who was very moved by Babi’s story and is highly active on behalf of charities, made an emotional surprise visit at Babi’s workplace to congratulate him with his colleagues.

Born and raised in Marseille, Babi joined Amazon in 2018 as a temporary employee having previously served fifteen years in the French army, through which he was deployed on countless operations. As a result of his proactivity during training and taking care of new hires, Babi was soon promoted to company team leader.
With his heart set on helping those in need, in 2009 he founded a charity that gives aid to hundreds of deprived families in Marseille through food and clothing donations. In his free time, he volunteers for other local charities like Secours Populaire, the Red Cross, and Handisport.
His colleagues describe him as “a really great guy” whose “love for life is contagious”. He also fulfils a key community role as a mentor to Marseille’s younger generation, helping them make career plans and land their first job.
“I find spending your free time to help extremely deprived young people quite extraordinary, and you really pour your heart and soul into it, Babi,” said Kev Adams.
As just one example, Babi took Mohamed Ahamada, a young person from Marseille, under his wing to help him set up a delivery business after he became disabled following a road accident. Mohamed’s business, Step by Step, is now thriving as one of Amazon’s delivery partners in Marseille.
To reward and support Babi’s efforts to aid Marseille’s people in need, our delivery agency in Bouc-Bel-Air has pledged a €5,000 cash donation to French charity Fédération du Secours Populaire in Bouches-du-Rhône. Not only is Babi a volunteer for this charity, we have also teamed up with them for several years for ‘Back to School’ campaigns, in which school supply kits are provided to students so that they can return to school in the autumn with everything they need.
We’re proud to call Babi an Amazon Star and thank him for his dedication to Amazon and others, and we applaud the dozens of Amazonians who often volunteer alongside him for the benefit of the community.
