Operations have begun at Miłkowice Solar Farm, Amazon’s first self-managed renewable energy project in Poland and one of four solar and wind projects in Poland that we’ve supported to date. Collectively, these projects will provide more than 140 megawatts (MW) of new carbon-free energy generation capacity in the country – enough to power the equivalent of more than 100,000 Polish homes annually.
Investments in solar and wind energy are part of our efforts to invest in new sources of carbon-free energy in support of our Climate Pledge commitment to be net-zero carbon across all our operations by 2040.
“The start of operations of the Miłkowice solar farm is an important milestone for Amazon in Poland. I’m proud that our company is involved in projects that not only help match the electricity consumed by our operations with renewable energy, but also contribute to broader changes in the Polish energy sector,” said Sławomir Płonka, Director, Regional Operations CEE, Amazon.
“This undertaking shows that global companies can really help support local communities by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and helping to reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels,” said Mariusz Mielczarek, Director CEE, Public Policy at Amazon, who also serves on the board of AmCham Poland. “Investments like this are the foundation for the future where technology and sustainability go hand-in-hand.”

Our other projects include the Jastrowie and Okonek utility-scale wind farms, as well as a solar array on the roof of Amazon’s robotic logistics centre in Świebodzin. Together with the solar farm in Miłkowice and the rooftop solar panels in Świebodzin, these initiatives underscore our commitment to Poland's energy transition and support the Polish government's decarbonisation goals.
Supporting local communities
We met our 100% renewable energy goal seven years early in 2023, and have invested in more than 600 solar and wind projects globally, which when fully operational will generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 24.6 million European homes. The renewable energy projects we invest in not only help match the power consumed by our operations, but also provide new sources of carbon-free energy to the local communities where Amazon’s customers, vendors and employees live and work. They also help create jobs and support local businesses, which is part of our commitment to become a more sustainable company.
Our sustainability programmes in Poland
Carbon-free energy investments are just one part of our broader sustainability efforts in the country. In September 2024, we launched the Climate Pledge Friendly programme in Poland, which makes it easier for customers to discover and buy sustainable products. People in Poland can now choose from over 65,000 products with features such as recycled materials, organic ingredients, safer chemicals, and greater energy efficiency.

In addition, as part of the Fix It! project, also available on Amazon.pl, we encourage people not to get rid of their favorite clothes or household items, which, thanks to a simple renovation, can serve for many more years.
“At Amazon, we are committed to giving products a second life. The Fix It! project, launched in 2024, helps customers extend the lives of products by providing guidance on how to repair items using tools and repair kits,” said Katarzyna Ciechanowska-Ciosk, Country Leader of Amazon Poland.
Nature-based solutions are another area where companies can make a difference at scale. In 2025, we are planning to bring Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund to Poland with an investment of about PLN 3.8 million (almost €1 million) to support an initiative targeted at climate resilience and nature conservation. The project will also drive social benefits in the communities where we operate.
