Clichy, February 11th, 2021 – Amazon today announces the creation of 3,000 new full time jobs in France during 2021. These jobs are on top of the 2,200 roles created in 2020, taking the company’s total permanent workforce to over 14,500 permanent employees in the country by the end of 2021.
The new roles - including customer order associates as well as engineers, graduates, HR and IT professionals, health & safety and finance specialists - will help Amazon meet growing demand and enable small and medium sized enterprises selling to scale their businesses.
Promoting equal opportunity in hiring across French territories
The recruitment for the jobs to be created in Amazon’s logistics network will be supported through new agreement signed by the company with the national employment agency Pôle Emploi in support of the campaign “All Mobilized for employment”. Through this convention, Amazon reiterates its commitment to diversity and equal opportunity in recruiting, with a special support for young people from priority City Districts. Amazon will also offer its "Amazon School" program, allowing employees to develop their skills and build a long-term career with Amazon.
“We have invested more than €9.2 billion in our French businesses between 2010 and 2019. As a result of those investments we have become a major job creator in the country, enabling additional employment of tens of thousands of indirect jobs in our supply chain and small businesses and entrepreneurs using the tools and services we build to help them grow,” highlights Frédéric Duval, Country Manager, Amazon.fr.
"A computer specialist by training, I went through hard times and applied as a temp at Amazon. Today I am responsible for the security of a site with 600 employees. Amazon gave me a chance and judged me on my involvement and my desire to grow. And when I didn't know how to do it, Amazon trained me. I like being part of a company that cares so much about people and supports them in building their careers,” said Marwein, Security Manager at the Amazon site in Amiens.
Ronan Bolé, France Director for Amazon Logistics, adds: “Amazon has already started to hire across French territories for those 3,000 permanent jobs, offering competitive wages, comprehensive social benefits. Amazon is the perfect place to build a career and we look forward to working even closer with Pôle emploi to continue ensuring that the jobs offered by Amazon accessible to everyone, everywhere in France.”
Offering a positive work environment and career opportunities at Amazon logistics sites
Amazon provides some of the most advanced workplaces of their kind in France with competitive salaries for all employees. In France after 24 months in a permanent contract, entry-level employee salary is 26% above the French legal minimum wages (SMIC). Employee compensation includes full benefits such as a 13th month salary, Restricted Stock Units, and a sharing scheme.
The company is committed to equal chance in hiring: parity index is among the highest of the industry at 94/100 and the company employs over 6% of disabled employees at its fulfillment center.
Amazon also offers innovative training opportunities for employees to develop their skills and build their career. For example, with the Career Choice program, Amazon offers to pre-pay up to 95% of tuition fees related to training programs for up to four years and with the “Amazon School” program, associates can leverage their experience with a Degree certified by the State in partnership with the AFPA.
