We recently announced the opening of a new delivery station in Milan allowing us to increase the capacity of our operations in the Lombardy region.
Overall, we now have a total of 400 jobs in the region since we started operating in 2010. Over the summer, we also announced a new fulfillment centre for Rome and a new development centre for machine learning in Turin.
This new opening proves how much and how fast Amazon operations is expanding in Italy to meet a growing customer demand.
The latest delivery station will allow us to meet the high quality delivery needs of an increasing number of customers. It's our second delivery station in the region, after opening one in Avigliana (Torino) on July 25. Apart from the 4.000 square meters delivery station at Porto di Mare (Rogoredo) we also have an urban fulfilment center in Affori and a corporate HQ in Milan.
The two delivery stations are managed by Amazon Logistics, which adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network and enables local and regional carriers to deliver customer orders from Amazon, six days a week.
“This new opening, less than two months after the launch of Avigliana’s Delivery Station and the new FC in Rome, proves how much and how fast Amazon operations is expanding in Italy to meet a growing customer demand," explains Philippe Hemard, VP EU Amazon Logistics.
"Porto di Mare delivery station is a new milestone in our development path in Italy and will help us to fulfill Amazon customers’ demand for faster and more flexible deliveries," he said.
