Amazon keeps investing heavily in its infrastructure across Europe recruiting thousands of employees over the past months.
One of the major investment will lead to the opening of a Research and Development center in Barcelona in the first half of 2018. It will focus on Machine Learning with the recruitment of more than 100 scientists and software engineers. The Machine Learning teams work on algorithms, which automatically extract patterns from large collections of data to make accurate predictions, leading to lower prices, greater selection and better customer experiences at Amazon.
Our fulfilment network is also expanding to serve our customers and enables small firms to export across Europe through our marketplace. By the end of this year, we will add 15 new fulfilment centres and a number of delivery stations in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Slovakia and Poland rising by 15.000 employments in Europe to 65.000 people by the end of 2017.
This expansion means we will continue to improve our service to European customers by adding new centres to the existing network, while also continuing to invest and create jobs across Europe.
We’re also opening new offices that increase the workspace for developers, researchers and our other corporate teams in major cities in UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. One corporate office in Munich opened in April 2017: “Amazon is an innovation lab. More than 1,000 employees are based in Munich, and work on simplifying our customer’s lives day after day,” says Ralf Kleber, Country manager of Amazon Germany.
While in London, we opened a new 15-storey office and 600.000 sq ft providing more space for its high tech development center to grow from 450 to 900 roles. Amazon in Italy also moved its office to a new building in the heart of Milan with space for 1.100 employees.
The recent opening of the brand new corporate office in Madrid covering a 12.000m2 space allows recruiting more than 1.000 professionals in total.
A new office also opened in Luxembourg, responding to the growing workforce.
