Amazon has today announced the launch of its Pan-European Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program. This new service will help sellers of any size export to millions of Amazon customers across the EU more efficiently than ever before.
Amazon customers in turn will be able to receive thousands of new products from sellers across the EU, whilst benefitting from faster shipping times and lower delivery costs.
Pan-European FBA enables sellers to deliver their inventory to a local fulfillment center, and Amazon will take care of the rest of the logistics. Amazon will automatically ship sellers’ products across its European Fulfillment Network to place inventory across the EU, matching anticipated local customer demand. Amazon will then pick, pack and ship orders to customers from the closest fulfillment center where the product is available
Tens of thousands of SMEs already sell to Amazon customers across the EU. For example, in Q1 2016, over 50 percent of EU sellers sell on more than one Amazon Marketplace in Europe; globally, Fulfillment by Amazon delivered more than 1 billion items to customers worldwide in 2015.
Amazon’s Pan-European FBA programme will help sellers export to customers across the EU more efficiently than ever before, whilst allowing customers to benefit from faster delivery times and lower shipping costs.
Francois Saugier, director of EU seller services, said: “Amazon’s Pan-European FBA program will help sellers export to customers across the EU more efficiently than ever before, whilst allowing customers to benefit from faster delivery times and lower shipping costs. By gaining access to millions of new international customers, SMEs are given the opportunity to boost exports and successfully grow their business abroad.”
The new Pan-European FBA service can also help sellers to grow their business by making their products eligible for Amazon Prime, meaning they will have access to millions of Amazon’s most loyal customers, along with Amazon’s trusted and acclaimed customer service.
How Pan-European FBA works:
- Start: Sellers enroll products that are eligible for Pan-European FBA.
- Ship: Sellers ship Pan-European FBA enrolled products to a local Amazon Fulfillment Center;
- Distribute: Amazon will distribute sellers’ inventory across its European Fulfillment Network – at no extra cost to seller – to get it close to customers, optimized by anticipated local demand;
- Sell: Sellers can manage and track their Pan-European FBA offers using all standard reports and tools in Seller Central;
- Orders: When customers order the products, Amazon will handle the fulfillment logistics and provide fast, reliable delivery from the closest fulfillment center where the product is available;
- Fees: For the delivery, sellers will only pay the local fulfillment fee of the marketplace in which the product was ordered. There is no European Fulfillment Network cross-border fee.
Fulfillment by Amazon offers a suite of solutions for selling across Europe, each scaled to serve sellers of all sizes. Amazon sellers range from entrepreneurs working in their garage and small family owned shops to larger enterprises. Amazon has 29 fulfillment centers distributed across 7 countries in Europe, as well as Customer Service centers that are able to help customers in the local language of the five EU Amazon marketplaces.
By selling cross-border, Amazon sellers have a positive impact on economies and jobs across Europe.
Jens Wasel, CEO of KW-Commerce, says: “Pan-European FBA simplifies many of the complexities of cross-border selling. During pilot phase alone we achieved additional uplifts of 25 percent on every Amazon website in Italy, France and Spain. We are happy to offer our new brand “Kalibri”, wooden and real leather mobile cases even faster to new customers across Europe.” KW-Commerce is a Berlin based and 170 employee company selling mobile equipment on nine Amazon Marketplaces across the globe. They joined Amazon Marketplace in 2012 with four employees.
Miriam Dalli, Member of the European Parliament for Malta, says: “By selling cross-border, Amazon sellers have a positive impact on economies and jobs across Europe. Sellers also contribute to our targets on intra EU trade in the European Single Market as we aim to boost entrepreneurship for small businesses across the EU."
