Amazon today named Mariangela Marseglia as new incoming VP Stores for Europe. It follows the decision of Jorrit Van der Meulen to leave the business to pursue adventures outside of corporate life, after a more than 20-year career at Amazon.

Jorrit has led numerous teams at Amazon, most recently the European Stores business in Luxembourg, reporting to SVP for International Stores Russ Grandinetti. Mariangela, who has most recently been leading Amazon’s Italy and Spain Stores, will take on her new role when Jorrit leaves in February.

“After more than twenty years with Amazon, Jorrit has decided to swap corporate life for the ski slopes and will be leaving the company in February. He’s been a key leader at Amazon for the last 22 years, both in Seattle and Luxembourg. We would not be where we are without him," said Russ.

“While I’ll miss Jorrit and his many contributions, I’m excited that Mariangela has agreed to succeed him as our VP of EU Stores. I’ve worked closely with Mariangela for many years, and I’m excited to see her in this new role and learn from the perspective she’ll bring to my leadership team," said Russ.

Mariangela has been with Amazon for more than 15 years, leading some of Amazon’s key business lines including Electronics and Fresh, and more recently as Country Manager for Italy and Spain.

She said: “I’m truly excited to take on this new European role. Under Jorrit’s leadership, we’ve accomplished so much across the region – benefiting customers, sellers, communities and employees. As I step into this new chapter, I look forward to building on what we’ve achieved as a team and helping drive Amazon’s next phase of growth in Europe.”

With Mariangela moving into her new role, Amazon also named Giorgio Busnelli as the new Italy Country Manager, and Ruth Diaz as the new Spain Country Manager. Both will report into Mariangela and will retain their current roles leading the European Consumables and European Fashion teams respectively.
