The lighting of one of the spheres came a few days after the launch of the “Made in Italy Days” on Monday May 30 at the Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome - Amazon's first international event organized in collaboration with Farnesina and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) to promote Made in Italy products worldwide.
The Made in Italy Days involved Amazon stores in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, UK, the United States, Japan and the United Arab Emirates - where Amazon customers are able to shop from a wide selection of products from the iconic Made in Italy categories, including food, design and fashion.
Through the “Made in Italy Days” event and the online showcase dedicated to Made in Italy, we also announced our commitment to support the more than 18,000 Italian small and medium-sized businesses selling on our stores, which have contributed to date to the creation of more than 50,000 jobs in Italy, to reach EUR 1.2 billion in foreign sales per year by 2025 - more than double the value of exports in 2020.
The Spheres in Seattle are a space that allows Amazon employees to work or enjoy their lunch break in an environment that is more like a park than an office. It is an open space, without offices or meeting rooms, which aims to recreate a link between urban space and nature: it houses more than 40,000 plants from the rainforest regions of over 30 countries.
