Limerick-based engineering firm H&MV Engineering has been recognised for its exceptional work in the cloud infrastructure industry, taking home the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Ireland Horizon Award. Now in its second year, the award was presented by Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Emer Higgins TD, along with Enterprise Ireland CEO Leo Clancy.
This prestigious award aims to honour companies driving employment, exporting their services internationally, and elevating Ireland's reputation in the cloud infrastructure sector.
H&MV Engineering won for their cutting-edge design and construction solutions across data centres, wind farms, solar projects, and battery storage initiatives.
The award ceremony provided an opportunity for companies, service providers, and stakeholders to discuss Ireland’s cloud infrastructure ecosystem and how multinationals and local companies can work together.

In her remarks, Minister Higgins praised the vital role of Irish companies working alongside multinationals in driving the nation's economy.
“The Irish companies that work alongside our multinational base are a vital part of Ireland’s economy. It is excellent to get an opportunity to get to recognise the success of these firms, who are at the frontier of the digital economy. Companies like this create jobs here in Ireland and, in the process, create a platform to expand internationally. I want to congratulate H&MV Engineering, and all the firms that were shortlisted for today’s award.”
AWS's impact on the Irish economy
Neil Morris, Country Lead for AWS in Ireland, emphasised the transformative impact of foreign investment like that of AWS on the Irish economy. He highlighted H&MV Engineering's success as "a prime example of the positive impact that foreign investment can have on the Irish economy."
Neil also highlighted the rapid expansion of Ireland's data centre industry, creating opportunities for local firms to develop world-class engineering, manufacturing, and logistics solutions for international clients.
“In recent years Enterprise Ireland has worked closely with H&MV Engineering as the company has expanded internationally. It is exciting to see this highly innovative business go from strength-to-strength creating new jobs here in Ireland and overseas, and are worthy winners of this award. I also wish to commend AWS as they continue to provide support to a cross-sector of Irish businesses, including start-ups and scale-ups, and play a significant role in nurturing innovation and growth within the overall enterprise ecosystem.”
H&MV Engineering's ongoing expansion
PJ Flanagan, CEO of H&MV Engineering, acknowledged the award and announced that the company had created 700 new roles in engineering, project management, and supporting functions within its Irish headquarters in Limerick, while establishing a global footprint.
The AWS Horizon Award is a testament to H&MV Engineering's commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in propelling Ireland's cloud infrastructure ecosystem to new heights.
“Ever since we started working with AWS in 2013, this has created many different jobs and roles in engineering, project management, and a number of supporting jobs in our Irish offices. The support AWS has provided to us has allowed us to establish a presence globally. We are delighted to have been awarded the AWS Horizon Award this year and it is testament to the hard work and commitment shown by everyone associated with the company.”
